THE 2016 draw for the Armstrong Cup took place last Thursday afternoon at the Millfield Playing Fields and last year’s runners-up Caledon Rovers will play in the opening game of the tournament.
They will face local side Armagh Blues in the first game of the tournament on Monday July 18 at 7.15pm.
The champions from 2015 are also back in action at the tournament and United LT will take on Armagh City Reserves in the first round on July 20.
The first round draw is as follows:
Monday, July 18 –
Armagh Blues v Caledon Rovers.
Tuesday, July 19 –
Tullyvallen Rangers v Armagh Celtic.
Wednesday, July 20 –
Armagh City Reserves v United LT.
Thursday, July 21 –
Keady Celtic v Loughgall Reserves.
Saturday, July 23 –
Dungannon Rovers and Tandragee Rovers.
Monday, July 25 –
Richhill v Orchard Athletic
Rectory Rangers and Markethill Swifts have been handed byes in the first round of the competition.
Once the first round is completed both of these teams will play their first game of the Armstrong Cup with Rectory Rangers taking on either United LT or Armagh City Reserves on Wednesday, July 27, while Markethill Swifts will make their bow in the competition on Saturday, July 30 against either Richhill or Orchard Athletic.
All of the week day games will kick off at 7.15pm and the games played on a Saturday will kick off at 3pm.
