We are looking for volunteers to assist with the tending of the tree nursery; now sited in the Tí Chulainn allotment in Mullaghbane. The allotment hasn’t been used to its full potential recently and a number of the raised beds have become choked with weeds. We need assistance with clearing the beds and preparing them for the larger tree saplings which have already outgrown their pots.

Ever fancied trying your hand at willow weaving? Now’s your chance. Crossmaglen Community Centre is running a 6 week course in Beginners Basket Weaving.

The Ring of Gullion Lúnasa Festival – the place to be this August. Join us this August in beautiful charismatic South Armagh. There will be at least one event every single day. These will range from small drop-in craft workshops to our major weekend-long celebration of the fabulous: “Footsteps in the Forest”.

This event will launch the Lúnasa Festival. For the first time in 46 years, the centuries-old tradition of hoisting the flag overlooking Carlingford Lough will take place. There will be fun and entertainment for all the family.

The Volunteering Small Grants Programme provides grants of between £200 and £1,200 to help organisations throughout Northern Ireland recruit and support volunteers. To be eligible, organisations must be formally constituted and must have an annual income not exceeding £100,000 per year.
The NI4kids Family Awards were held on 27th June in Belfast City Hall. Slieve Gullion Forest Park where announced the winners of the Family Visitor Attraction of the Year award, sponsored by FCA Northern Ireland. Chairperson Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick said “What a fabulous achievement, we are lucky to have so many great attractions in Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and it’s great when they are recognised.
